With advanced training in Neuro-Developmental Optometry and Vision Therapy, Dr. Reuter focuses on helping individuals recover and optimize their visual function after brain injuries, neurological events, or developmental challenges, as well as enhance their visual systems for sport performance. Dr. Reuter is fellowship-trained and board-certified in Neuro-Developmental Optometry and Vision Therapy, and Rehabilitation. She earned her optometric doctoral degree from the prestigious SUNY College of Optometry in 2008 and completed her clinical rotations through the New York City VA system. Dr. Reuter began her career at Lenox Hill Community Medical Group in New York City, a hospital-based, multi-specialty medical group, where she gained advanced expertise in diagnosing and managing ocular diseases. She later directed the binocular vision department at The Brown Center in Providence, Rhode Island, specializing in pediatrics, functional vision performance, and neuro-rehabilitation before serving as a professor at the doctoral level in Neuro-Optometry, Binocular Vision, and Neurological Rehabilitation at MCPHS University School of Optometry. As a former competitive soccer player, Dr. Reuter understands the demands of sports performance. During her senior year at the University of Wisconsin, she underwent a visual training program that transformed her visual function, significantly enhancing her performance both academically and athletically. Inspired by this experience, she pursued a career in optometry to provide similar services to others. Dr. Reuter has worked extensively with athletes of all ages and levels, helping amateur players elevate their performance and supporting professional athletes in optimizing their visual skills. In her current role, Dr. Reuter combines clinical expertise with a compassionate approach to patient care. She works with a diverse population, including children with developmental delays, individuals undergoing neurological rehabilitation, and athletes seeking to enhance visual performance. Using cutting-edge technology and evidence-based techniques, Dr. Reuter provides personalized treatment plans that may include vision therapy, prism lenses, or other therapeutic interventions. Dr. Reuter is an accomplished author with numerous publications in Ocular Disease and Vision Rehabilitation. She is an active investigator and a committed community advocate, providing eye care to underserved women and children through charitable organizations and outreach programs. In the last two years, she has been the principal investigator on two major FDA research projects – one for a sideline concussion device, and the other for clinical refractive advancements in the exam room. She is currently helping to develop a wearable testing/training device as well. Beyond her clinical work, Dr. Reuter is passionate about community outreach, providing vision care to underserved populations, and raising awareness about the critical role of vision in overall health and quality of life. Additionally, Dr. Reuter played a pivotal role in the Massachusetts school vision screening initiative, reforming screening protocols and earning a scholarship award for her contributions.
