- Robert Mitchell.Neuro-OptometristO.D.Cognitive AssessmentCognitive RehabDietary/Supplement Interventions/AdviceVision RehabDoctor Robert Mitchell had a vision for Oro Valley Eyecare when he opened the office in 2010. He wanted to create something special and different- a place that embodied the motto “We Care. You’ll See.” Doctor Mitchell loves taking time to really “Care” for each patient and ensure that they “See” clearly and comfortably. He was raised in Oklahoma and received his undergraduate degree from Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah. Doctor Mitchell met his wife on the tennis courts at BYU and they learned early in their marriage that they enjoyed participating in and watching sports events together. They moved to Oro Valley from Houston, Texas after graduating from the University of Houston College of Optometry in 2006. After 20+ years of marriage you will still find them playing tennis, pickle ball, golf, on their roller blades or bicycles, and attending local soccer, baseball, volleyball, basketball or football games. Over the past several years, Doctor Mitchell has started focusing on several subspecialties in the office. Those include Orthokeratology (non-surgical vision correction), Advanced Dry Eye Evaluations and Treatments, and Neuro-Vision Training (both for athletes and aging eyes). He loves to talk to patients about the importance of Nutrition for long term eye health and visual performance. Doctor Mitchell speaks Spanish after volunteering as a missionary for 2 years in the Portland Oregon area and is currently learning Swedish. He dabbles in playing the bagpipes and the guitar…..but not at the same time. He is very proud of his four children and loves to encourage and cheer them on in all their endeavors.
