After receiving her Bachelor of Science in Physiotherapy from McMaster University (with Honours), Allison embarked on a career in Sports physiotherapy working with the Hamilton Tigercats, Royal Ballet, St. Catherine’s rowers and the McMaster Varsity teams. There was only one problem: Whistler. The town had gotten under her skin a decade earlier when she lived the ski bum dream for a few seasons and the mountains siren song rang loudly in her ears. She started Peak Performance Physiotherapy after a brief stint with an established clinic Wanting to provide exemplary service with enough time to assess and treat complex problems and to provide a large toolbox, Passionate about her profession and wanting to provide the best for her patients, she moved to Australia to pursue and obtained a Masters degree in Applied Science in Manipulative Physiotherapy in 1999. Following that she added Acupuncture (CAFCI), Intramuscular Stimulation (GIMS), Rehabilitative Pilates, Real time Ultrasound for lumbopelvic dysfunction, shockwave and multiple courses on concussion management and treatment. She was involved with the Olympics and Paralympics in 2010, working with custom bracing and orthotics for all athletes at the polyclinic. She has been a clinical education coordinator for UBC Department of Rehabilitation Medicine for many years and has mentored physiotherapy students from multiple Physiotherapy programs in Canada (Queens, McMaster and UBC) and internationally (Australia, Sweden, Ireland and US). She applied for and received a US patent for a specialized knee brace and has a patent pending on a shoulder brace. Most recently (2016) a Certificate of Completion of Vestibular Rehabilitation: a Competency Based Course from Emory University, Atlanta, GA. was added to her CV. Her education and practice has been recognized and rewarded by grateful patients who have repeatedly (2001-2005, 2007-2016) voted her and Peak Performance physiotherapy Whistler’s Best Physiotherapist and clinic in Pique Newsmagazine’s “Best of Whistler” poll. More important and most rewarding is the parade of friends and strangers who limp in and walk out with a spring in their step. Allison enjoys her work at the clinic but can be found skiing, skate skiing, paddle boarding, sailing and biking. A self-proclaimed closet domestic (Secretly she enjoys sewing, reading, cooking, baking and gardening.)
